Some recent eggs

Some recent eggs

I posted one of these on facebook a week or so ago, but finally got around to putting together the whole set. These are before and after shots of some egg drawings I did on six eggs that some friends gave me, fresh from their chickens, late in May. These, of course, are a revisitation of the egg drawings I began in 2011. I don’t draw on eggs too often anymore, but since I knew these chickens, the inclination proved irresistible. I think when I used to do these more regularly, I didn’t take the before shot. I like the contrast, but of course, the project was really all about the cracked version – which, I think, these photos show, is always the more interesting of the two versions.
Oh, I should mention, there are 10 sets here, that’s because these are photos from two sides each of five eggs. There were, as mentioned above, six eggs in the set, but one of them totally exploded when I cracked it and the shell was beyond repair – all the king’s horses and all the king’s men, you know.
