RD25: Goodbye or Maybe Farewell, 1996

Here’s another Tidal Wave Sketchbook drawing. This is another one from Sketchbook 2, except this one says February 15th. Oh, maybe that last one that we did was from Sketchbook One. I guess that’s right. But this is from February 15th. So I would’ve been back in Venice for, you know, it looks like four and a half months or so, or, well, 4 months maybe. October, November, December, January, February, yeah. 4 months,

  • Note: I’m pretty sure – and I think I’ve mentioned elsewhere – that I arrived back in Venice on October 12th, 1995. I don’t know why that date sticks with me, and it could be wrong. I think I could find the answer in one of these sketchbooks – the first one – if I bothered to look.

and we’ve had time to get back together and break up and probably get back together and break up again. And this Goodbye or Maybe Farewell is chronicling that and letting go and, you know, spoiler alert, we got back together a couple more times before we, um, finally ended things.

But this is from February 15th (1996). This is a breakup sort of thing. I look sad. She looks less sad. And, um, and, you know, it’s an all right drawing. I liked that last drawing. I got so distracted just talking about other things. I didn’t really talk about that last drawing, but that Last Tidal Wave Sketchbook, the Sketchbook 1, drawing, that I did a few posts back. I liked that. I think I ended up just talking about the fact that there are a lot of these Tidal Wave Sketchbook drawings, and I don’t know how many, but, um, it’s not too surprising that even, or especially, in a random selection from the things that I’ve done, that these would show up quite often.

So here we are. Not a bad drawing. I like these Tidal Wave Sketchbook drawings. They’re very unique for what they are. It was a good period of sketchbook drawing back then.

This is a good drawing, but that one from a few posts back with us happy on the beach, I really liked that – I guess maybe I just like it because it’s more cheerful!
